The St Nic’s Curriculum
At St Nicholas C of E Primary School, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian vision to Aim High, Be Courageous and Show Love. Inspired by our Christian values, we strive to provide every child with a rich, ambitious and inclusive education that enables them to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Our curriculum is designed to inspire a love of learning, nurture curiosity and equip children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to succeed in an ever-changing world. We encourage pupils to aim high by developing resilience, aspiration and a determination to achieve their very best. Through carefully planned learning experiences, children build secure knowledge across the curriculum and develop the confidence to become lifelong learners.
We encourage children to be courageous by embracing challenges, asking questions, thinking critically and exploring new ideas. Our curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to develop independence, creativity and perseverance while deepening their understanding of the world around them. As a Church school, we want children to have the confidence to stand up for what is right, make informed choices and grow into responsible citizens.
At the heart of all we do is the importance of showing love. Through our curriculum, pupils learn the values of kindness, compassion, respect and service to others. They develop an appreciation of diversity, learn to value different perspectives and understand their responsibility to care for both their local community and the wider world.
Our Christian values and vision are woven throughout every aspect of school life, helping children to make meaningful connections between their learning, their character and their place in God's world. Through enriching experiences, educational visits, opportunities within our local community and a broad range of subjects, we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are ready for the next stage of their education and life beyond primary school.
At St Nicholas, we want every child to leave us as a confident, knowledgeable and compassionate young person who lives out our vision each day by aiming high, being courageous and showing love.
